ALE/IDOC

ALE/IDOC techology allows sending business information between SAP systems or between SAP and other systems. Some typical business scenarios:

  • automatic generation of a sales order in the vendor's SAP system when you save a purchase order
  • sending a payment notification to the vendor when payment is made
  • sending a transport order to carrier when a delivery is saved
  • sales reports to prefered vendors

Workflow

Workflow allows defining business processes that are not yet in the SAP standard. Those can range from the simple (e.g. approve an order release if it is beyond some limit) to complex processes involving several department (e.g. Marketing creates a client, automatically Credit Control Department is notified to modify the default credit limit, a month later Marketing is again notified to revise ABC classification for the said client).
